We had a lovely day today. My cousin Barbara and her husband Pete came down from Torrevieja to see us. They arrived about twelve and we met them in the car park in Taberno. From there of course we could only introduce them to the delights of a lunch time drink and tapas at Lentisco’s on the warm sunny veranda, what a joy. We then drove over to Brian and Chris’s house on the Rambla Pardos where they were staying Sunday night, bed and breakfast. Brian and Chris had the kettle on in moments and we enjoyed a nice cup of tea and chat with them whilst Barbara and Pete were shown to their, exceedingly nice, en-suite room. It was so nice to be standing on their patio, chatting in the warm sunshine, beside the pool. We have no worries about recommending this excerlent B&B if anyone is in this area and wants very good value for money accomodation (only €30 per double room including a ginormous country style breakfast). Brian and Chris's phone number is: 0034 664232196, email brian_poland@hotmail.com.
We then had a walk around Taberno and drove up to the shrine, above Taberno, which has fabulous views across the top of Taberno and down towards Huercal Overa, on a clear day. We also went over to a hill top viewing platform even higher above Taberno, but although it was really nice, there was a haze in the distance that stopped us seeing the sea.
In the afternoon we drove up to our caravan and after a nice cup of tea we were able to show them our ‘house so far’. They are our first honoured visitors and both Elayne and I were very proud to be showing them around. Barbara and Pete mentioned that Norm and Jackie (Pete’s Sister and B in L) from Vancouver, who are 'avid blog readers') are coming over to stay in Spain with Barbara and Pete in June. We have told B&P that we would welcome them coming down to visit us again with Norm and Jackie.
Last night the four of us went down to Albox for a Chinese. It was excellent value and quality. Pete nearly came home with his chair, because when we arrived and he sat down ,he found that the chair had a ‘sticky substance ‘ on it. The staff made a nice fuss about it and changed the chair, and we all had a good laugh.
Barbara and Pete are really good company and instead of delivering them back to the B&B at about half past nine, as planned, it was past half past ten before we dropped them off.
Today’s pictures, as well as showing B&P, include my favourite Spanish person, Isobel. Isobel is Paco’s (owner of Lentisco’s) mother in law. She is the sweetest lady in the world and is always smiling and charming. The other chappy is a pensioner that lives in accommodation at Lentisco’s, and they all look after him whilst he sits on the veranda in the sun each day.
