I’m sorry to keep harping on about the weather, but it does play a very important part in our lives just now. I have dug more channels to guide any more rain water away and past the caravan, so that the gullies that formed on Monday and Tuesday night would not get any worse. We did have another bout of heavy rain whilst we were dancing at Lentisco’s bar last night (but we had drunk enough by one o’clock so that we didn’t care) and apart from me getting out of the car when we got home and stepping into yet another muddy puddle, we had a rain free night. Gradually today the skies have brightened and as I write this at 16-30hrs the sun is just about to come out for the first time in eight days. Thank goodness.
Our friends Bob (of recent funny email source) and his lovely wife Janet were sat near us in the bar last night. As Bob and I were talking we found out that we were both born in 1944, we were both born in April and I was born on the 3rd and Bob was born on the 4th, quite a coincidence. My date of birth is 3-4-44 and his is 4-4-44, how’s that for good timing.
In Albox this morning we called into our, now famous, bank CajaSur. We said that if there was more than one person waiting we would walk away. I only wanted to change our account address. Any way after five or six minutes it was our turn. The young and very pleasant young man got the hang of what we wanted quite quickly and after taking the details from our card he pulled our account up on the screen. He then got a form out and filled this in with all of our details from the screen and our new address. When we had done all of this I asked him if I could have €100 he had my card on the table in front of him, he had our account up on the screen and then he asked us to show him our passports. As usual we don’t carry our passports but now most people accept my picture Leeds card (which we nearly threw out when we left). This young man was really not happy with this and I thought that he was going to refuse to let us have the money. How ironic can it be after all that time sat with him?
Now here's a funny thing. There has been flooding in Malaga and tornados in other parts of Spain, all together with the heavy rains that we have had here over the last five days. How come all the ramblas are dry as a bone? See the picture of the Albox rambla/car park this morning. At most we have seen a trickle of water in our own rambla despite the torential rain. I don't understand.
