Just let go of your mouse for three seconds and it falls into hostile hands and then editorial control and integrity fly out of the window. Elayne was so excited at being able to publish that silly picture of me that she forgot what day it was. Huh!!
Well this is my right of reply.
It’s bedtime on Thursday. It’s raining and I am tired and really wanting to get into bed. As ‘you know who’ is showing not the slightest inclination towards volunteering to go and switch the genny off, I in my over protective and stoic manner resign myself to the task in hand. Madam is spending yet another twenty five minutes in the bathroom, so I thought that I would get ready for bed to save time when the genny is off. As it was raining quite hard I put my fleece over my dressing gown. I have a head torch, a bit like a miners helmet lamp, with LCD lights, it is very powerful and fits to the forehead with elastic straps leaving both hands free. Because of the lamp and because of my glasses I decided to put my hat on so that the rain would not get on them. The picture was taken after I had sat around, tired and wanting my bed, for at least ten minutes.
So the attire was perfectly in tune with the outside weather conditions and practical for quickly turning off the genny on a rainy night. You just wait until I see her washing her hair or ’applying colour’, then we’ll see who wants not to put pictures on line for the whole world to see.
Today has once again been glorious right from sun up until now, it’s five o’clock, local time. The ambient temperature has been around 17-20 degrees but working this afternoon in the sunshine it must have been in the low 20’s.
As we were driving to do some shopping this morning my cousin Barbara rang us from their new house in Torreveija, near Alicante. They live in Taunton in Somerset and have bought a house out here so that they can spend some winter months here in the warm sun. We have arranged to meet up half way between Torreveija and Taberno on Tuesday the week after next (28th). We will look forward to this and ask our Taberno friends if they know of any good meeting places on or near the motorway about half way between here and there.
As children we had great fun when our families got together. We had the most fabulous holidays with them down in Taunton in the mid fifties and Barbara and I spent many happy hours playing with all of her mates and friends down at the local parks. Many of you will remember me talking about it taking seventeen hours to drive from Redcar in Cleveland all the way down to Taunton, what an epic journey that used to be.
