Sunday around here is a day for folks to take to their cars, motor bikes, quad bikes or pedal cycles. Our camino (track through our land) gets heavier traffic on Sundays than the rest of the week. We have had three cars, four motor bikes and one quad bike past today. The motor bikes and quad bike were all in a group. They went past about one o’clock and then came back past two hours later. Our camino is about half a mile south from the main track up from Taberno and then winds it’s way south again past us, over the hill tops and drops down onto a rambla that runs nearly down to the Albox road. We have now been here for six weeks and today is the very first day that we have actually passed a car on the camino. I think that we will need traffic lights at the end of our drive (where it meets our camino) soon if it gets much busier.
Bob and Pam, together with Gill and Malcolm (new friend originally from the Midlands, two years back) are coming over this evening. We were going to have a bonfire evening and BBQ but it’s still too wet, and in places muddy, for prancing around out there in the dark. Instead we will cook ‘in doors‘, have a drink or three and get the cards and dominoes out for a session.
Today started off wet but even though it has not rained since this morning it has been overcast and down at twelve degrees all day. We have a slight breeze which is drying us out but it always looks and feels that we could have more rain.
Whilst we were mucking out the caravan (Elayne won’t like that) in readiness for our evening, we noticed a gale blowing into the van from the copious number of vents in the kitchen and in each room. These vents are ideal for summer but now it’s ‘back endish’ we have covered some of them up with tape. We can remove the tape quite easily if we feel it becomes stuffy. However I feel warmer already, but then we have just had a good hot water ‘stand up in the shower’ wash. We have bought a huge bowl that we put in the bottom of the shower, fill it with lovely hot water and we can have a half respectable stand up bath and wash our hair. If the plumber ever manages to repair our hot water and central heating system we will feel like we’re in a hotel. Funny what you can get used to.
A couple of pictures just to remind us what it was like here just last Monday.
