We had a cloudy and cold (6 degrees) start this morning. It must be the first cloudy start to the day for about five to six weeks.
We got ready and drove down to Mojacar, to organize some more building funds. The Mojacar Playa (beach front) is great at this time of year with few cars and people compared to high season when you can only drive at 10km/hr because of the density of traffic. However we were surprised that there were quite a lot of mobile homes on the beach front areas.
It takes us half an hour to get down to the motorway from home and then another half an hour (at 120km/hr) to get to Mojacar. As we were driving back up the motorway we hit a section where we could see a clear 2km of road in front of us. There was not a single vehicle of any type on this section of motorway, either in front of us or behind us, until we were about three quarters of the way along this section and then I saw a white van about 1.5km behind us. We were making the comparison between this motorway, which is the main E7 Med motorway from Gibraltar up and through France to Italy, to the good old M62, at any time of day or night. I remember well all the white knuckle drives I’ve done on that road and it makes me shudder to think of the near misses I‘ve had on it.
There are more and more almond trees that have gone into blossoms. I’ll get some more pictures in a few days time.
No builders on the horizon today, maybe it’s another fiesta day that they have forgotten to tell us about.
