We ended up gathering about forty kg of olives and we now proudly own about five and a half litres of un-purified, cloudy, olive oil (oliva acetia) . This should last us until this time next year, don’t you think? I tasted it tonight and would you believe? it tastes like real olive oil. Paco seemed happy with us taking the olives to him and it saved us a trip all the way to Albox and a lot of waiting around whilst several farmers and smallholders had their trailer loads registered and weighed.
We have been down to Heurcal Overa today to do some shopping. Everything will be shut tomorrow because it‘s 6th January, Three Kings Day. If one was being a little cynical one could say that the Spanish have managed to make the Christmas break last over three weekends as apposed to the rest of Europe having two weekends. Elayne and I are meeting up with Mags, Allen and their eighteen month old Grandson tonight in Taberno to watch the Three Kings Eve procession through the village. There should be a float with the three kings on it and they tour the village throwing sweets out to the children in the crowd, well we think that that is what happens. Watching this will be another first for us so we are looking forward to it. Pictures and further news tomorrow.
On the building front, after further enquiries, it transpires that some of the steel frames required for the foundations have to be made and they are not all made just yet. The builder will get them as soon as possible but he’s not fully sure that this will be this week. I know that I’m a gullible old fool but we can only accept the builders’ explanation or call him a liar, perhaps not a good plan at the start of a project. Stick with rear guard revenge as per my plan yesterday.
Another glorious day today, we had a little wind over night but not enough for us to be too concerned about it.
Pictures: A shop in HV selling fiesta dresses for tonight and tomorrow. A very attractive roof decoration on a house in the town centre of HV.
