I have been complaining for some time that my computer seat is knackered and it makes my hip quite painful if I use it for a long period during the day or evening. The team at Whiteley will remember the enormous hassle I went through there to get Whiteley to buy me a new seat (all of 80 pounds worth). They just would not believe that one could wear out the seat padding without it looking all tatty. I had to threaten H&S at Work before they bought me another seat. I reckon that if I spent only half my day sitting down at the computer and my desk, then in one year I would have been sitting on the seat for over 4200 hours.
Anyway back to this spooky tail, so to speak. I eventually got fed up with this chair and turfed it out of the computer room, but where was I to put it? Elayne, who actually said that we were daft to bring it from the UK in the first place, and reminded me of it, several times, said put it in the portacabin. I said why, we may as well dump it, and then it doesn’t take up precious space in the cabin and eventually we could buy a new one when we saw one. So this morning I maneuvered the chair out of the caravan, it fell to bits several times before I got it outside, and loaded it into the car. We were on our way to Huercal Overa anyway so we could put it by the bins in Taberno on the way through. We knew that within minutes of tipping it, it would be claimed from beside the bins because it still looked quite good. When we got down to the bins in Taberno, I opened the boot and looked again at the chair and thought that it was still far too good just to dump. I said to Elayne that if we could find some foam padding we could have a go at taking the upholstery off the seat and re-filling it. We have done this to good effect in the past and it was good fun to do. So we didn’t ditch the chair, it stayed in the car with us whilst we went shopping to HO and Lidl.
Like Netto in the UK, Lidl have an isle of baskets down the centre of the store that they sometimes sell really useful household items from. One has to be there just at the right time to get the useful items before they go like hot cakes. As we walked in this morning and in the very first basket were special computer chair cushions. So we bought two. They are made of a patterned cover with a zipper to replace the foam or wash the cover, and they are angled towards the front of the seat. They only cost 5.99 euros each. How’s that for good timing?
We returned to base via tapas and a pint at Lentisco’s and sat outside on the veranda in the glorious sunshine and we were very warm, what a delight it is to do that.
No more work at site today although we are told that the concrete for the pillars is coming Monday, but we don’t believe that now do we????
