Whilst we were out and about yesterday we picked up some mail from our friends Eric and Isobel in El Pinar. One letter was a demand for Car Tax from Central Government in Almeria (I think). However for one years car tax the total amount is €75.54 (about £52) which is not really too aggressive is it? We have to pay it before June so we have plenty of time to save up as well!!!
Today we don’t have any builders on site. Jose and Dario called up this morning to remove their petrol generator. It is clearly broken in the pull start department and they are taking it off to the ‘mechanicos’ to get it repaired. So the job stops for the weekend, again. It doesn’t take much to stop the job, because they could have asked to borrow one of our spares or even plug into the diesel genny like they did during the week. Rather than lose another day I would have given them the fuel and cleaned the plugs as well.
Anyway, we went down to the car boot sale in Albox and as usual there was not really anything of interest except that I bought an A4 box of self adhesive labels, 27 on a sheet and 60 sheets of A4, that will go through the printer if required and all for €2. We then bought some Diesel ‘B’ and some items from Mercadona. On the way back we had a lovely lunch at El Rancho’s.
At home we walked with the cats down to have a look at how the figs are coming on because down on the coast the leaves are fully developed and the fruits are quite large already. Our leaves are still developing but you can see the fruit buds forming below the leaf base. We are always impressed as well by the abundant wild flowers down on the campo with clearly many more to come. The rains have obviously helped but it was one thing that has surprised us and given us a lot of pleasure. It makes us proud to be custodians of this lovely plot of land.
