April has arrived at last. It’s very boring but we don’t have any builders again today, just Elayne and I up here on the mountain by ourselves. We did see the goat man passing the caravan this morning with his herd of black goats.
After a late breakfast we donned our walking boots etc and set off for our second walk down in the bottom of the rambla. I felt that we had better go down to see what it is looking like in spring. Convolvulus , broom, and a hundred other shrubs and plants are flowering. A pond we found , on the far side of the rambla, is teaming with tadpoles, so if we ever make a pond or pool we can import some tadpoles next year.
The walk from one end to the other and back to the caravan took about an hour.
Our friends Chris and Avril kindly gave us three rhubarb plants last week. They are growing at an extraordinary rate and the rain can only have helped them along. As soon as we can we will dig out a patch for them . Anyone at Whiteley want any rhubarb soon? (it’s an in--joke because when I worked at Whiteley I took into work about three crops of rhubarb every year from our garden at East Keswick).
There are lots of butterflies around just now, mainly ‘cabbage white’ types. That moth on yesterdays blog was a ‘5-Spot Burnet’ (Zygaena trifolii), what a beauty. We didn’t see it leave.
We have just dashed outside to get the cats in because I spotted two golden eagles flying very low and close to us. We cannot be certain that they would attack the cats, but we want to play safe until they have moved on. When the cats are safely in and we get chance to see the eagles with the binoculars, they are very spectacular.
I mentioned a while back that I store my blog writings in MS Works Word in a size of one point, after I have finished with them. I can at any stage bring them or part of them back to twelve point very quickly and easily. The blog text from 5-9-2006 until now is on just two pages of Word. This blog should now push it on to the third page. A good way of storing vast amounts of written text. There are 67826 words on just these two pages, not bad in seven months of blogging.

Well you do waffle on a bit!

It was good to catch up on the blog when we got home.....house is looking good. It must have got to a very frustrating "so near , so far" stage now I think !

Have been looking at flights but it is looking very expensive as we will have to travel in school holidays as I have got a job!! At lunchtimes and some hours working with a little boy who needs one to one help in nursery. Not too sure of all details but start after the Easter hols!
This also puts Janes wedding out of reach as we will only have been back at school a few weeks and flights are expensive fri/sun. The wedding is also the weekend of my brothers 40th which we will not be able to attend as it is on the Friday night ! Which is all a bit pants but there you go !

Dear P & E.
For Pete's sake! Don't encourage the frogs/toads because if you ever get a pool there is nothing worse that finding yards of spawn floating in it. A love sick toad will also keep you awake all night.
