We thought that yesterday’s light shopping extravaganza was the end of our light fitting requirements. Later yesterday we realised that although we had done a good job of buying the lights for the house, we still needed to get some lights for the outside and inside of the garage together with lights for the solarium. So off we go this morning and bought seven more light fittings. The inside of the portacabin looks like the inside of ‘Homebase‘.
We also did our weekly shop, it’s the same as the daily one only costs three times as much, and then on our way back we treated ourselves (it’s not hard to do) to a lovely salad and chips lunch at El Ranchos.
The builders today have been doing more of the same i.e., tiling and grouting the steps but also one guy has started to hand hew the foundation trenches for the garage and utility room. Poor man, the earth is like concrete and the sun is quite strong. We still really need Carlos to come up to site now to get on with the electrics etc, but perhaps he needs the utility room finished so that the central heating boiler and oil holding tank can be installed all together with the rest of the house.
I was just saying to Elayne this morning that whilst moving across the way will be an enormous joy, the actual work involved will be back breaking. Where as moving out of EK I was just a redundant spare part that had not to get in the way, this move will be about moving the huge number of heavy boxes out of the portacabin, into the car, out of the car and into the house. I wonder if we could employ someone to do it with us? The other little worry is that as we remove things from the caravan and portacabin, they become lighter and maybe more wind sensitive. Particularly the portacabin with probably two tonnes of our stuff in it. We are hoping that if we can sell them, the buyers will remove them from site very quickly. Still a long way to go and lots to do.
