It’s been a busy, windy, rainy sort of a day today.
We left camp, after the builders arrived this morning, and have only just returned about an hour ago (it’s now
17-15hrs).
We went to Mojacar to collect loads of dosh with which to feed the builder. Whilst there we did some laundry and had an all day FEB (for the uninitiated, a FEB ((Full English Breakfast)) is an occasional ‘pig out’ that we have, of fried bacon, eggs, sausage, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms with lots of toast and a good old English cup of tea). We had this at about one o’clock so it acted as brunch.
We then called in to see our El Pinar friends, Eric and Isobel. They are both looking very well. Isobel has started writing her ‘second book‘, whilst still also having to finishing off the final touches, with the publishers, on her first book. They posted the amended first book back to the publishers just yesterday. How exciting for them. They have been, and are, so good to us. We are really looking forward to showing them our new house when it is completed.
On the way back to camp we called in to collect No1 genny from Philip, all mended and in fine fettle.
Back at the caravan the builders had progressed well today, to say it has been so windy and rainy. They seem to have finished off the brickwork for the roof section. After we arrived back at the caravan, one of the lads came down and wanted ‘more agua’ (water with which to make cement). This is a bit of a pain because I have to crawl under the caravan and disconnect the pipe that comes down from the hebe to the caravan. As we have a natural siphon now (no need for the pump except to prime the flow) I have to disconnect the pipe and then try to put a stopper in the still running pipe. You can guess that to an outside observer this must look like hilarious pure slap stick with me getting soaking wet every time(I really must fit a tap in the system, dhhhh). When this is secure, I then have to drag the plastic poly-pipe up the hill to the water butt near to where they are building. The pipe is unstopped and water flows into the butt until they have enough. The entire procedure has then to be done in reverse, including me getting wet once more, to re-connect it back to the caravan. The last time I did this was probably four weeks ago. Then when I re-connected the pipe back to the caravan I couldn’t quite seal the connectors properly, and so since then we have had a small drip under the caravan, annoying but not enormously wasteful. Just yesterday, would you believe, because of the dry ground and better weather conditions, I actually got under the caravan again with some large grips and sealed the leak up. Today I had to undo it all again. How’s that for ‘sods law’?
