We had an appointment to meet our new architect in Taberno this evening at seven o‘clock. The bloody man never even showed up or phoned to give reason for not coming or being late. This side of Spain drives us both barmy. This part of our house planning, to a point where we can actually start to build, is so important to us that we find it hard to comprehend this sort of lack of professionalism. But we do have to put up with it and we will have it all in place soon, it’s so angry making after a life in C/S ensuring that one doesn’t let other people down.
After the over night rain it was a cold night but a glorious day today. I bought a chain saw at Lidles store in Heurcal Overa today, so I can go and beat up some poor unsuspecting almond trees tomorrow and get rid of my frustration. Manana, manana, manana. It is after all Friday 13th today, we hope that you had a less stressful day than us.

Today has been an all together better day than yesterday. We were contenting our selves by having a day at base just doing things about site without going too far abroad, when this afternoon we got a call from Bob and Pam to say that they had captured Chema (new architect) down in their office and if we wanted to go down we could begin the design process with Chema, and for him to start to gather enough information for us to actually apply to make a start to build. At least Chema had the good grace to apologise about missing us last night (which takes a way some of the anger we had built up because of his apparent rudeness), he is a charming young man anyway so it was easy to forgive him. He will now draw up an outline plan that can be presented to Albox Town Hall for approval (we hope) and he says that he will have this ready sometime next week for us to make any amendments to before submission.
Later this afternoon we went down to see Angela and Phil at their house about two miles down the camino from us. They have been here for six years and have built this splendid house with a very complicated electrical system by solar and wind power. Phil was very dismissive about how complicated it was, but to me it was a mass of spaghetti. Seeing the system did actually formulate some ideas for us about when we will make a start on getting a solar powered system together. We will wait until we are in mid build of the house and then look at buying all the parts required to have an almost self sufficient electrical system. We will soldier on over the winter with our generators as long as we can get the gas central heating/hot water sorted out and working. We will just have to get used to running the generator all night as well as all day to power the water pumps for the cold water, hot water and the central heating. We’ll see how it all pans out.
Sorry but no pictures for two days as we haven’t been anywhere photogenic. We will try harder, promise.
