Would you ‘Adam and Eve it‘. It’s Monday the fourth of June 2007 and we arrive back on site, after a morning in Mojacar, to find one of Carlos’s crew actually beginning to fit the kitchen carcass units. We arrived back here just before siesta so in fact we only saw the guy for about ten minutes before he disappeared in his van off towards Albox. He said something about Carlos himself coming to site at three o’clock. We could hardly contain ourselves. However three o’clock came and went and no sign of the elusive great man. He did though show up at four o‘clock, (obviously still running on Argentinean time) with a third member of his crew. It is now half past five and they have all three been on site for an hour and a half. We dare not breathe in case it is just a temporary little glitch and they will all disappear in a puff of spanish smoke as the bell tolls six, not to be seen again for another three weeks.
The builders have been fitting the utility room door and window. They have also plastered the inner roof ceiling (although I didn’t ask them to, but I ain’t stopping them, it’s less for me to worry about). I’m not sure what they have done since three o’clock. We will go and have a nosey round when they have all gone home tonight.
We had a lovely party, yesterday afternoon, at Chris and Avril’s They kindly put the party on to celebrate David (Avril’s brother from Bangor, Ireland) and John’s (from who we bought the solar system) birthdays. It was a lovely afternoon (as you might have already seen from the pictures) and Chris and Avril put on a splendid spread for us all.
The company was good and we played garden jenga. I got well thrashed at table tennis so all in all it was a good day.

Another good day on site. The builders have put all the roof tiles on the casita (utility room) and it’s looking good. The joiners were up here this morning and have put most of the kitchen carcasses in position. We had an issue with some of the centralisation of the appliances but we have resolved all of these with Carlos, who came up to site this afternoon. He has to order some new part units so perhaps this may add a little more to the overall finish time, we shall see. At every chance I say to every one that we want to have it all finished ‘muchos rapido’. They all smile in understanding, but it makes no difference to the outcome.
I had to take the builders home to Albox tonight because there had been a communication cock up with Dario and he didn’t turn up at home time. It’s a bit of a pain and an hours round trip, but they are good lads and I wouldn’t not take them by their request.
