June at last. Could it just be possible that we might move into the house this month? The biggest stumbling block clearly is getting a delivery date from Carlos for the kitchen units. I have tried talking to him direct on the phone, but to be fair neither of us is very good in the others language, especially on the phone. I have also spoken to his, not too effective, secretary, Christina. She speaks good enough English but she seems totally dominated by Carlos and will only give out the information that Carlos gives her to give out. As usual she said that she will try to get Carlos to call the kitchen unit manufacturers, to get some idea when they will arrive. Once here on site, if accompanied by Carlos and team of course, they should be fitted in perhaps three to four days.
We have bought ourselves a soft tub. It’s the largest one that we can have and is 1.98cm diameter. It holds 1365ltrs of water and is now full and proudly sitting on the house solarium. It will take probably until this evening to warm up to about 38 degrees, so if it’s a nice evening we may take a little dip. Much hilarity amongst the builders who have been kidding me on that it will fall through the roof, silly billies. The tub has all sorts of jets and even some disco lights so it should be great fun on warm evenings. It can seat 5-6 adults, but one would have to become quite intimate with them all to squeeze quite that many into it. It is a stop gap measure, that will allow us to cool off during the summer, until we get into a position where we can start planning to perhaps have a pool.
We have had two builders on site all day and a third one arrived this afternoon. So a good day of progress on the utility room and garage base. All the floors are finished and tomorrow the doors and posh windows will go in. They are posh windows because they are the same type, with shutters, and size as the house windows, just what a good work room deserves, don’t you think. We may get some rejas for the windows in the future. I can’t wait to get installing myself in there, whilst Elayne plays with her new cooker and kitchen things etc.
BTW it’s a really lovely day today with a gentle cooling southerly wind.
