Eric and Isobel told me when I saw them this morning that they get quite a few wild tortoises roaming through their garden during the spring. It became quite an intelligent conversation after I got over the idea of a garden full of ‘white’ tortoises, I didn’t have my ear trumpet in at the time. How we laughed, well they did and I followed out of pure embarrassment.
BTW when we went to Agua Amarga last night and whilst we were paddling along the sea shore I saw a couple of tiny flying fish bounce out of the water about ten metres out from the shore. They were each only about 5cm in length. If they had been going out to sea I would have put the split second sighting down to someone skimming a flat stone on the water. But something must have been chasing them as they jumped in towards the beach. Elayne did not see them and I had not had a drink since Tuesday evening, ‘onest guv.
We went to Turre this morning to load the blog, and we found a super book called coincidentally ‘Wild Spain, A traveller’s guide by Frederick V Grunfeld’ It talks about the wild off track areas of Spain and how to travel them and what you can expect to see for your troubles. We look forward to reading it in depth.
BTW again, the pop group that headlined the Mojacar Fiesta on Monday night was lead by a Sergio Contreras. If anyone gleans any information about him and how big he really is in Spain I would appreciate a resume please, he probably sang for Europe in Eurovision.
It’s windy today even though it is sunshine and beautiful blue sky, the temperature is down to twenty nine, so it feels quite comfortable walking around and we do not get fried each time we get back into the car.
The pictures were taken last night at Agua Amarga and as we were driving back to El Pinar from Mojacar. Captions are: ‘We have got our trousers wet once again‘. ‘Strewth look where we have to go’ and ‘Gordon Bennet’ have we just come up from there?’ Finally the sun is setting over the mountains behind El Pinar and Bedar as we drive back via Mojacar.
