We had a reasonable night last night. We went to bed at one thirty in anticipation of the high winds that seem to start around that time on previous nights. If you go to bed at eleven it is not good to be woken at one thirty after a couple of hours sleep. Anyway it did blow but a little more moderate than on Tuesday and Wednesday. Today the wind (so far at 18-00hrs) has eased down to a brisk blow and a temperature of 4-7 degrees (2.7 overnight) . I have just come in after working all afternoon outside on the caravan new drainage system, and trying to modify the hebe to run as a gravity fed system instead of running on the pump and genny only. Anyway my water pipes sprang a leak and so I went back to the pump until I can repair the leak.
We are having one of Elayne’s specialities for tea/dinner tonight, chicken casserole with dumplings. I can smell it all simmering away as I write this blog.
We have started to explore the possibility of renting a place, for the building duration, instead of living here in the caravan and being exposed to this extreme weather. We don’t want to do this because money paid out in rental is lost money. However the last few nights have been quite overwhelming as far as we are concerned and the feeling of vulnerability, for us and all we own, in the really raw elements is not too funny. We can explore this angle without commitment and at the same time see if the elements calm down enough to let us stay here, which is what we want to do, but not at any price. This move in no way deviates from the original plan for this plot of land and our house. Had we been inside a house this week we would not have been too bothered by the elements.
We’ll see how it goes. The pictures today are entitled ‘Our place in the sun’ ;-))

Dear paul & Elayne.

I am looking to see what I can find out about the valve you want.

If I find a supplier can you email me the address to which you would like it sent.

Love from us both.

Mike and Joan.

P.S. It sure seems windy in your neck of the woods. I think you can buy windmill generators at the local DIY store. Get a quiet one or plant it well away from the caravan.
